ܘܗܘܐ ܕܟܕ ܡܣܩ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܐܠܝܐ ܒܥܠܥܠܐ ܠܫܡܝܐ ܘܐܙܠܘ ܐܠܝܐ ܘܐܠܝܫܥ ܡܢ ܓܠܓܠܐ

When Yahweh was about to take Elijah up by a whirlwind into heaven, Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.

ܘܐܡܪ ܐܠܝܐ ܠܐܠܝܫܥ ܟܬܪ ܠܝ ܗܪܟܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܫܕܪܢܝ ܠܒܝܬ ܐܝܠ ܘܐܡܪ ܐܠܝܫܥ ܚܝ ܗܘ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܚܝܐ ܗܝ ܢܦܫܟ ܕܠܐ ܐܫܒܩܟ ܘܢܚܬܘ ܠܒܝܬ ܐܝܠ

Elijah said to Elisha, “Please wait here, for Yahweh has sent me as far as Bethel.” Elisha said, “As Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So they went down to Bethel.

ܘܢܦܩܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܢܒ̈ܝܐ ܕܒܝܬ ܐܝܠ ܠܘܬ ܐܠܝܫܥ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܠܐ ܝܕܥ ܐܢܬ ܕܝܘܡܢܐ ܢܣܒ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܪܟ ܡܢ ܪܝܫܟ ܘܐܡܪ ܐܦ ܐܢܐ ܝܕܥ ܐܢܐ ܫܬܘܩܘ

The sons of the prophets who were at Bethel came out to Elisha, and said to him, “Do you know that Yahweh will take away your master from over you today?” He said, “Yes, I know it. Hold your peace.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܐܠܝܐ ܠܐܠܝܫܥ ܟܬܪ ܠܝ ܗܪܟܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܫܕܪܢܝ ܠܐܝܪܝܚܘ ܘܐܡܪ ܚܝ ܗܘ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܚܝܐ ܗܝ ܢܦܫܟ ܕܠܐ ܐܫܒܩܟ ܘܐܙܠܘ ܠܐܝܪܝܚܘ

Elijah said to him, “Elisha, please wait here, for Yahweh has sent me to Jericho.” He said, “As Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So they came to Jericho.

ܘܩܪܒܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܢܒܝ̈ܐ ܕܒܐܝܪܝܚܘ ܠܘܬ ܐܠܝܫܥ ܘܐܡܪ̈ܝܢ ܠܗ ܝܕܥ ܐܢܬ ܕܝܘܡܢܐ ܢܣܒ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܪܟ ܡܢ ܪܝܫܟ ܘܐܡܪ ܐܦ ܐܢܐ ܝܕܥ ܐܢܐ ܫܬܘܩܘ

The sons of the prophets who were at Jericho came near to Elisha, and said to him, “Do you know that Yahweh will take away your master from over you today?” He answered, “Yes, I know it. Hold your peace.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܐܠܝܐ ܠܐܠܝܫܥ ܟܬܪ ܠܝ ܗܪܟܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܫܕܪܢܝ ܠܝܘܪܕܢܢ ܘܐܡܪ ܚܝ ܗܘ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܚܝܐ ܗܝ ܢܦܫܟ ܕܠܐ ܐܫܒܩܟ ܘܐܙܠܘ ܬܪ̈ܝܗܘܢ

Elijah said to him, “Please wait here, for Yahweh has sent me to the Jordan.” He said, “As Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” Then they both went on.

ܘܚܡܫܝܢ ܓܒܪ̈ܝܢ ܡܢ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܢܒ̈ܝܐ ܐܙܠܘ ܘܩܡܘ ܡܢ ܩܒܘܠ ܡܢ ܪܘܚܩܐ ܘܬܪ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܩܡܘ ܥܠ ܣܦܬܗ ܕܝܘܪܕܢܢ
dywrdnn spthh el qmw wthryhwn rwkhq' mn qbwl mn wqmw 'zlw nby' bny mn gbryn wkhmshyn
Fifty men of the sons of the prophets went and stood opposite them at a distance; and they both stood by the Jordan.

ܘܢܣܒ ܐܠܝܐ ܡܥܦܪܗ ܘܟܪܟܗ ܘܡܚܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܠܡ̈ܝܐ ܕܝܘܪܕܢܢ ܘܐܬܦܠܓܘ ܦܠܓܐ ܠܟܐ ܘܦܠܓܐ ܠܟܐ ܘܥܒܪܘ ܬܪ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܒܝܒܫܐ

Elijah took his mantle, and rolled it up, and struck the waters; and they were divided here and there, so that they both went over on dry ground.

ܘܟܕ ܥܒܪܘ ܐܡܪ ܐܠܝܐ ܠܐܠܝܫܥ ܫܐܠ ܡܢܐ ܐܥܒܕ ܠܟ ܥܕܠܐ ܐܬܕܒܪ ܡܢܟ ܘܐܡܪ ܐܠܝܫܥ ܢܗܘܐ ܚܕ ܬܪ̈ܝܢ ܒܪܘܚܟ ܥܠܝ
ely brwkhk thryn khd nhw' 'lyshe w'mr mnk 'thdbr edl' lk 'ebd mn' sh'l l'lyshe 'ly' 'mr ebrw wkd
When they had gone over, Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask what I shall do for you, before I am taken from you.” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be on me.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܐܣܓܝܬ ܫܐܠܬ ܐܢ ܬܚܙܝܢܝ ܟܕ ܡܬܕܒܪ ܐܢܐ ܡܢܟ ܢܗܘܐ ܠܟ ܗܟܢܐ ܘܐܢ ܠܐ ܠܐ ܢܗܘܐ
nhw' l' l' w'n hkn' lk nhw' mnk 'n' mthdbr kd thkhzyny 'n sh'lth 'sgyth w'mr
He said, “You have asked a hard thing. If you see me when I am taken from you, it will be so for you; but if not, it will not be so.”

ܘܗܘܐ ܕܟܕ ܗܢܘܢ ܡܡܠܠܝܢ ܘܡܗܠܟܝܢ ܘܗܐ ܡܪܟܒܬܐ ܕܢܘܪܐ ܘܪܟܫܐ ܕܢܘܪܐ. ܘܦܪܫܘ ܒܝܬ ܬܪ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܘܣܠܩ ܐܠܝܐ ܒܥܠܥܠܐ ܠܫܡܝܐ

As they continued on and talked, behold, a chariot of fire and horses of fire separated them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

ܘܐܠܝܫܥ ܚܙܐ ܘܗܐ ܡܝܠܠ ܘܐܡܪ ܐܒܝ ܐܒܝ ܪܟܒܗ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܦܪ̈ܫܘܗܝ ܘܬܘܒ ܠܐ ܚܙܝܗܝ ܘܐܚܕ ܒ̈ܠܒܘܫܘܗܝ ܘܨܪܝ ܐܢܘܢ ܠܬܪ̈ܝܢ ܨܪ̈ܘܢ
tsrwn lthryn 'nwn wtsry blbwshwhy w'khd khzyhy l' wthwb wprshwhy d'ysryl rkbh 'by 'by w'mr myll wh' khz' w'lyshe
Elisha saw it, and he cried, “My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and its horsemen!” He saw him no more. Then he took hold of his own clothes and tore them in two pieces.

ܘܐܪܝܡ ܡܥܦܪܗ ܕܐܠܝܐ ܕܢܦܠ ܡܢܗ ܘܗܦܟ ܘܩܡ ܠܗ ܥܠ ܣܦܬܗ ܕܝܘܪܕܢܢ

He also took up Elijah’s mantle that fell from him, and went back and stood by the bank of the Jordan.

ܘܩܪܐ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܐܘܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܗ ܕܡܪܝ ܐܠܝܐ ܘܐܦ ܗܘ ܡܚܐ ܠܡ̈ܝܐ ܕܝܘܪܕܢܢ ܘܐܬܦܠܓܘ ܦܠܓܐ ܠܟܐ ܘܦܠܓܐ ܠܟܐ ܘܥܒܪ ܐܠܝܫܥ
'lyshe webr lk' wplg' lk' plg' w'thplgw dywrdnn lmy' mkh' hw w'p 'ly' dmry 'lhh mry' 'wn w'mr lmry' wqr'
He took Elijah’s mantle that fell from him, and struck the waters, and said, “Where is Yahweh, the God of Elijah?” When he also had struck the waters, they were divided apart, and Elisha went over.

ܘܚܙܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܢܒܝ̈ܐ ܕܒܐܝܪܝܚܘ ܡܢ ܩܒܘܠ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܫܪܬ ܪܘܚܗ ܕܐܠܝܐ ܥܠ ܐܠܝܫܥ ܘܐܬܘ ܠܐܘܪܥܗ ܘܣܓܕܘ ܠܗ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ

When the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho facing him saw him, they said, “The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” They came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܗ ܗܐ ܐܝܬ ܗܪܟܐ ܥܡ ܥܒ̈ܕܝܟ ܚܡܫܝܢ ܓܒܪ̈ܝܢ ܓܢܒܪ̈ܝ ܚܝܠܐ ܢܐܙܠܘܢ ܢܒܥܘܢܗ ܠܡܪܟ ܕܠܡܐ ܫܩܠܬܗ ܪܘܚܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܪܡܝܬܗ ܒܚܕ ܡܢ ܛܘܪ̈ܐ ܐܘ ܒܚܕ ܡܢ ܢܚ̈ܠܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܐ ܬܫܕܪܘܢ

They said to him, “See now, there are with your servants fifty strong men. Please let them go and seek your master. Perhaps Yahweh’s Spirit has taken him up, and put him on some mountain or into some valley.” He said, “Don’t send them.”

ܘܐܬܟܬܫܘ ܥܡܗ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܒܗܬ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܘܐܡܪ ܫܕܪܘ ܘܫܕܪܘ ܚܡܫܝܢ ܓܒܪ̈ܝܢ ܘܒܥܐܘܗܝ ܬܠܬܐ ܝܘܡ̈ܝܢ ܘܠܐ ܐܫܟܚܘܗܝ
'shkkhwhy wl' ywmyn thlth' wbe'why gbryn khmshyn wshdrw shdrw w'mr mnhwn dbhth edm' emh w'thkthshw
When they urged him until he was ashamed, he said, “Send them.” Therefore they sent fifty men; and they searched for three days, but didn’t find him.

ܘܐܬܘ ܠܘܬܗ ܘܗܘ ܝܬܒ ܒܐܝܪܝܚܘ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܠܐ ܐܡܪܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܠܐ ܬܐܙܠܘܢ

They came back to him while he stayed at Jericho; and he said to them, “Didn’t I tell you, ‘Don’t go’?”

ܘܐܡܪܘ ܐܢܫ̈ܝ ܩܪܝܬܐ ܠܐܠܝܫܥ ܗܐ ܡܘܬܒܗ ܕܩܪܝܬܐ ܫܦܝܪ ܐܝܟ ܕܡܪܢ ܚܙܐ ܘܡ̈ܝܐ ܒܝܫܝܢ ܘܐܪܥܐ ܡܓܙܝܐ
mgzy' w're' byshyn wmy' khz' dmrn 'yk shpyr dqryth' mwthbh h' l'lyshe qryth' 'nshy w'mrw
The men of the city said to Elisha, “Behold, please, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the land is barren.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܐܝܬܘ ܠܝ ܩܘܩܬܐ ܚܕܐ ܚܕܬܐ ܘܐܪܡܘ ܒܗ ܡܠܚܐ ܘܐܝܬܝܘ ܠܗ
lh w'ythyw mlkh' bh w'rmw khdth' khd' qwqth' ly 'ythw w'mr
He said, “Bring me a new jar, and put salt in it.” Then they brought it to him.

ܘܢܦܩ ܠܗ ܠܡܒܘܥܐ ܕܡ̈ܝܐ ܘܐܪܡܝ ܬܡܢ ܡܠܚܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܣܝܬ ܠܡ̈ܝܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܘܬܘܒ ܠܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܬܡܢ ܕܡܐܬ ܘܕܡܓܙܐ
wdmgz' dm'th thmn nhw' l' wthwb hlyn lmy' 'syth mry' 'mr hkn' w'mr mlkh' thmn w'rmy dmy' lmbwe' lh wnpq
He went out to the spring of the waters, and threw salt into it, and said, “Yahweh says, ‘I have healed these waters. There shall not be from there any more death or barren wasteland.’”

ܘܐܬܐܣܝܘ ܡ̈ܝܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܝܘܡܢܐ ܐܝܟ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܐܠܝܫܥ ܕܐܡܪ
d'mr d'lyshe pthgmh 'yk lywmn' edm' hlyn my' w'th'syw
So the waters were healed to this day, according to Elisha’s word which he spoke.

ܘܣܠܩ ܡܢ ܬܡܢ ܠܒܝܬ ܐܝܠ ܘܗܘ ܣܠܩ ܒܐܘܪܚܐ ܘܛ̈ܠܝܐ ܕܩ̈ܕܩܐ ܢܦܩܘ ܡܢ ܩܪܝܬܐ ܘܡܒܙܚܝܢ ܒܗ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܣܩ ܩܪܚܐ ܣܩ ܩܪܚܐ
qrkh' sq qrkh' sq w'mryn bh wmbzkhyn qryth' mn npqw dqdq' wTly' b'wrkh' slq whw 'yl lbyth thmn mn wslq
He went up from there to Bethel. As he was going up by the way, some youths came out of the city and mocked him, and said to him, “Go up, you baldy! Go up, you baldy!”

ܘܐܬܦܢܝ ܠܒܣܬܪܗ ܘܚܙܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܠܛ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܫܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܢܦܩ ܬܪ̈ܬܝܢ ܕܒܝܢ ܡܢ ܥܒܐ ܘܦܪܬ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܐܪܒܥܝܢ ܘܬܪ̈ܝܢ ܛܠܝܝܢ
Tlyyn wthryn 'rbeyn mnhwn wprth eb' mn dbyn thrthyn wnpq dmry' bshmh 'nwn wlT 'nwn wkhz' lbsthrh w'thpny
He looked behind him and saw them, and cursed them in Yahweh’s name. Then two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of those youths.
